I'm retired. These made me want to color again.
I'm retired. I color because it keeps my hands busy and my mind quiet. For a long time, I just grabbed whatever was cheapest at the store.
Then I tried these watercolor crayons from iCrayon.
I didn't expect much. But the first thing I noticed was how smooth they felt — not waxy and stiff like most crayons, but soft enough to blend almost on their own. I dragged two colors into each other on the paper and watched them melt together naturally. No effort. No technique required. Just colors finding each other.
What surprised me even more was how well they held up. I dropped the tin by accident and nothing broke. In my experience, good blending crayons are usually fragile. These aren't.
The set comes with a water pan and a built-in sharpener, which sounds like a small thing, but it meant I didn't have to hunt around for tools. I opened the box and just started drawing.
I should be honest — if you're a professional artist comparing these to high-end watercolor pastels like Neocolor II, the pigment depth isn't quite the same. But those cost twice as much. For what I pay, the color range and blendability are genuinely impressive. My sister saw my work and asked what I was using.
I'm not here to write a marketing review. I'm just a retired person who found something that makes her evenings a little more interesting. If you're looking for an affordable, satisfying way to get into watercolor crayons, this is a solid place to start.
